Tom Bewley is our Operations Director and here we put him Under the Spotlight…

Q1. What is your current role at Dufaylite, and how long have you worked here?
Operations Director, I have been with the company for a year.
Q2. What was your first job?
Apprentice Gravure Printer.
Q3. What advice would you give to someone starting out in your industry?
Take time to listen and learn with an open mind and make time to reflect.
Q4. What challenges do you foresee for the industry in the coming year?
The uncertainty surrounding Brexit and how this will affect supply and demand. Working to ensure we are agile enough to navigate through this period.
Q5. Who in your career has inspired you?
Professionally – My first Production Director. He taught me to keep an open mind, be strong when faced with challenge and to manage emotion.
Personally – My wife Amy, as she has supported, advised and encouraged me throughout my professional career.
Q6. If you were not in your current role what would you like to be doing?
I’d be a Skiing Instructor.
Q7. What are your hobbies/interests away from the office?
Watching football (Mainly THFC and my son’s team), skiing and spending quality time with my family.
Q8. If you could have dinner with any three people from any time, fictional or non-fictional, who would they be and why?
Winston Churchill – To ask how he was able to unite the nation at a time of absolute adversity.
Daniel Levy – Very private but successful Chairman of THFC.
My Dad – I’d like to tell him he was right (most of the time).
Q9. Which country would you most like to visit and why?
Norway – To get the best view of the Northern Lights.
Q10. What is your favorite book?
The Bone Collector by Jefferey Deaver.
Q11. What is your proudest moment?
Attending the births of my three children.
Q12. What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
You’re a long time at work, make sure you enjoy what you do.
