Dufaylite is the only UK manufacturer of paper honeycomb, producing it end-to-end in St Neots since 1955. Our paper honeycomb is 100% recyclable, certified Carbon Neutral Britain™ and FSC® (C186880), with BRCGS AA food safety on our Envirolite packaging range.
Honeycomb structure
Our honeycomb structure isn’t just for show – it’s seriously strong when it comes to durability and keeping costs down. But what is paper honeycomb really capable of? If you need a material that ticks all these boxes (and who doesn’t?), then you’re in the right place.
Why use paper honeycomb?
It takes the load
We’re all about balance – especially when it comes to compression strength and material costs. By tweaking glue lines, we can create honeycomb cells that are just right for your needs. Whether you want them small and mighty or large and in charge, we’ve got you covered.
It fills the void
With thickness options ranging from 6mm to 160mm, paper honeycomb steps in to fill those gaps efficiently. And here’s the best part: the thicker you go it becomes stronger in a different way. More bend stiffness, whilst maintaining compression? Yes, please.
What is paper honeycomb board?
Imagine a supercharged version of the corrugated cardboard sheets you’re used to. That’s our paper honeycomb board. It’s made by bonding a paper honeycomb core between two facing papers, all in one smooth, continuous process.
By tweaking the honeycomb’s thickness and cell size and pairing them with different facing liners, we tailor the board’s strength to fit just about any job you throw at it.
Traditional corrugated cardboard focuses all its strength on the edges, which means you have to use more material to achieve a strong final solution. Whereas honeycomb inherently has strength built within it. And, paper honeycomb board isn’t just strong; it’s smartly designed for whatever you need.

How Dufaylite uses paper honeycomb and board
At Dufaylite, we like to think of paper honeycomb and paper honeycomb board as our not-so-secret weapons in the fight for a more sustainable world. So, what is paper honeycomb? It’s a versatile, strong, and eco-friendly solution used in everything from packaging and retail displays to construction.
What industries typically use honeycomb paper and board?
Paper honeycomb FAQs
What is paper honeycomb?
Paper honeycomb is a lightweight, rigid material made from a hexagonal cell core bonded between flat paper facings. The structure gives it high strength for very little weight, and it’s fully recyclable.
What is paper honeycomb used for?
Paper honeycomb is used in protective packaging, construction (as void formers) and retail display and signage, where it replaces polystyrene, foam and timber.
Is paper honeycomb strong?
Yes. Its hexagonal cell structure distributes load evenly in all directions, so paper honeycomb offers high strength and rigidity while remaining lightweight.
Is paper honeycomb recyclable?
Yes. Paper honeycomb is recyclable in standard paper streams and biodegrades if it ends up in general waste, unlike foam or plastic.
